What is fibre broadband?
Fibre broadband is the latest technology in the internet world. Its high-speed internet delivered using fibre optic cables. Different broadband providers use these cables in different ways:
Some providers only take these cables to the cabinet on the street and connect the home with old-school copper cables.
Others take the fibre to the home but split the cable between up to 32 of your neighbours – making it less reliable too.
At Grain, we build an exclusively Full Fibre network, meaning we take the fibre all the way to the router in the home AND give each property a dedicated fibre cable – so you’re not sharing your connection or your speeds with the neighbours!

When do broadband providers put their prices up?
At Grain, we have always promised never to inflict price rises on our customers in-contract – inflationary or otherwise. The price you sign up for is the price you pay throughout your contract term – no nasty surprises.
Usually, the dreaded broadband prices rise you are hit with by other providers are announced in February, in line with inflation figures, with bills increasing from March/ April. However, Ofcom recently put a ban on inflationary in-contract price rises. Sounds great, right? Wrong.
In response to this, providers are now getting creative with their increases – introducing flat fees like a £3 bump instead – which often ends up being more than inflation!
