My First Week at Grain

First Impressions are everything

It is a statement which set me in good stead throughout my professional career, but is now one of the main messages which stuck in my head after my first week with Grain.

As I did my upmost to make that good first impression in my first week, it became clear to me that it is something which genuinely drives Grain and is showcased in their services to both the end user and the developers they work hand in hand with.

Grain have invested a lot time into understanding exactly what residents want from their broadband service, but also what the developer wants when installing it on their sites. The brand and the product have truly been built around these two factors. This solid foundation gives me great confidence moving forward in the future relationships I aim to build, maintain and grow over the next few years.

What makes us different?

Just like in any industry, moving between competitors can be a daunting task and it certainly was for me when moving to Grain. I have spent the last 8 years building my career within a large telecoms provider, the colleagues I left will be greatly missed.

So what made me consider Grain as a genuine prospect and a company I could trust my future with? For me there where 5 contributing factors all of which combine to produce a fantastic service and something which I can be confident in taking forward to developers, and which I believe sets Grain apart:

1. It’s Ready and waiting

Grain make it their top priority in getting service ready and waiting when residents move in. It is something which I haven’t seen done to this level before in the industry. It is integral to both customer satisfaction and Grains customer uptake so it will remain a top priority going forward, removing the stress for both customer and developer.

2. The Dynamic True Fibre Network

The network itself has been built from the ground up with reliability and unmatched speed at its forefront. The point to point nature of each customers connection mean that symmetrical upload and download 1000mbps speeds are par for the course, whilst also allowing for the best possible reliability.

3. The Uptake Speaks for Itself

One of the most obvious indicators of a services success is in its uptake by the residents themselves. On sites which Grain has been installed alongside other telecoms providers there is an uptake of up to 95% and the comparable speed packages on offer give excellent value for money.

4. Leave It To Us

Due to the nature of Grains network, onsite civils should be less of a hassle. Only one main cabinet is needed to supply an entire site meaning less cabinet citing headaches. With less cabinets come less cables in the ground, so the number of ducts and chambers required will also be reduced from the current norm. Duct & Chamber installation and internal home cabling are the only responsibilities of the developer meaning Grain take care of the rest.

5. An End to End Service

Dedicated project management looks a little different at Grain. Our planners are also our project managers & site liaisons, meaning that the person best placed to deal with anything which might change along the way has full control over everything needed to deliver a job efficiently and effectively.

The start of something great

Grain have been supplying their fantastic service to developments for a little while now, but for me this is the start of what I hope will be a really fulfilling and exciting opportunity. I truly believe that Grain provides an incredible service and I cant wait to start spreading the word!

I hope to speak with as many developers as possible in the near future, but in the meantime please feel free to get in touch if you have a project you think we could help you with.
