2025 Broadband Price Rises

What’s happening, why it matters, and when to brace for impact.

28th February 2025

We’re tackling your biggest questions about the what, why, and when of the 2025 broadband price rises—so you’re not left in the dark.

Are broadband prices going up?

Unfortunately for millions, yes, they are. Broadband customers of BT, Plusnet, EE, and Vodafone will face an unwelcome 6.4% increase in their monthly bills this spring.

How much will broadband go up in 2025?

Most major UK broadband providers are expected to raise their prices by around 6.4% in 2025. For many customers, this could mean an increase of approximately £3 per month, though the exact amount will vary depending on the provider and plan.

Will midcontract price rises be banned?

Mid-contract price rises linked to unpredictable inflation rates have been banned under new Ofcom rules. Telecom providers must now specify any price increases in exact amounts (in pounds and pence) upfront at the point of sale. This ensures consumers have clarity on costs throughout their contract, preventing unexpected increases based on inflation. However, price rises are not entirely banned—providers can still include them, but they must be clearly stated in advance.

How much will my broadband bill go up by?

The increase in your broadband bill depends on your current provider, your contract, and how the price adjustment is calculated. Make sure to check your terms!

Which broadband providers are raising their prices in 2025?

The short answer? Many. These include BT, Plusnet, EE, Virgin Media, Vodafone and Three. All by varying amounts. Check their websites for details.

How can I avoid broadband price hikes?

To avoid broadband price hikes, the best approach is to switch providers when your contract ends, allowing you to find a better deal without penalty fees. Consider smaller providers that offer fixed prices during your contract term (like us!). Additionally, check whether your provider allows penalty-free cancellation within a set period after notifying you of a price increase, so you can escape!

Does broadband get cheaper if I switch providers?

Yes, switching broadband providers can often save you money, as many offer their best deals to new customers. By comparing options and switching when your contract ends, you may find a better deal—especially if your current provider has recently raised prices. With One Touch Switch, you can change provider at the touch of a button. No paperwork or fuss, simply opt into automatic switching at checkout. Find out more.

What can I do if my broadband provider increases their prices?

Review your contract for price increase clauses, reach out to your provider to negotiate a better deal, or think about switching to a different provider.
