Safer Internet Day 2025

Scams, safety, and the digital future

11th February 2025

Too good to be true?

That’s the question driving Safer Internet Day 2025, taking place on February 11th. The focus of this year’s event is educating young people about online scams. Threats are evolving fast and keeping kids safe online is a challenge for us all. From phishing attempts to sophisticated AI-generated fraud – these are just some of the threats we all face daily.

The goal of today is to equip kids, teens, and everyone who supports them, with practical tools to understand and combat online scams.

This year’s campaign builds on young people’s real experiences and suggests actionable safeguards. It features key educational initiatives and industry partnerships including:

1. Question the source

  • With AI and deepfakes making content hard to verify, today stresses the importance of evaluating content carefully. If it seems “too good to be true”, it probably is.

2. Empower through education

  • Schools and community groups will take part in workshops and discussions. They will get access to resources for identifying red flags in emails, social media, and other common scam hotspots.

3. Leverage tech safely

Let’s use Safer Internet Day 2025 as a springboard for year-round vigilance!
